Tidal Tales
'Cuentos Interpretation' create pop-up social history exhibitions.
Our latest project, TIDAL TALES, celebrates the people's history of the working River Thames in Brentford. It is inspired by an 1829 continuous watercolour print, Panorama of The Thames, and a collection of oral testimony from the Thames watermen and lightermen, the river's gatekeepers who are uniquely trained in the river's winds and tides to carry passengers and cargo.
The exhibition will support community wellbeing through participatory activities centred on a copy of the river map.
Visitors will be invited to listen to tales of the river through testimony and talks, to share their own stories of the river, to map out where they live and reflect on the history of the working river exploring sample jars of cargo from around the world. In this experience, history and geography permeate the present and engage people in the global significance of the river both past and present.
