Javier E. Rodriguez-Garrido
As an artist, I am driven by curiosity, observation and experimentation.
My work has evolved through many artistic phases, from abstraction and constructivism to realism and expressionism, although the study of colour, texture and atmosphere remains at the heart of my practice.
Living with partial sight has shaped a unique relationship with colour, light and form. My sight may be limited, but my fascination with colour has never diminished. I continue to study its nuances, harmonies and expressive possibilities, drawing not only on what I see, but also on memory, imagination and emotional perception.
Rather than focusing on exact representation, I seek to capture the essence and atmosphere of a place.
My aim is to create spaces within my artwork that encourage reflection, memory and imagination, allowing viewers to form their own connection with the work.
One aspect of my practice is the use of recycled and reclaimed materials. These may include metal, rings, cans, found objects and textured elements. By incorporating these materials into my creative process, I explore the hidden beauty and potential of overlooked objects, giving them a new life within the artwork.
My work is an ongoing dialogue between observation and transformation, where landscapes, architecture, colour and texture come together to create poetic and evocative visual experiences.
