Rishi Khurana

Rishi’s interdisciplinary practice, which includes but not limited to painting, performance, video & sculpture, is a highly process driven practice that often focuses on associations and credibility in the urban landscape shaped by the collective threads of influences that are woven subtly into our current fabric of reality.

Born from New Delhi's vibrant chaos, his work reflects his Punjabi cultural background of familiarity, community and influences, whilst often collaborating with multidisciplinary creatives from the field to craft an artwork that sparks a cross-cultural dialogue that transcends and creates expanded painting forms which seamlessly integrate into the daily life.

Rishi finds inspiration in the opaque narratives that collectively constitute themselves into our individual self. His work is characterized by in-depth site specific research and use of locally sourced mediums, to collect & embed symbolic marks & traces that reflect the unique identity and familiarity of each site. This process-oriented & experimental approach blurs boundaries between artist, viewer & space, with materials & processes and creates an artwork that represents collective masses.
